Why choose the Janus Clinic ?
There are three very positive reasons why you should choose the Janus Clinic:

The Janus Clinic offers a unique approach to the treatment of stress-related problems. It combines extensive psychological experience with leading edge technology.

The treatment provides immediate feedback and allows the client to monitor the outcome of their treatment and see the resulting significant progress.

This treatment works and improvement is guaranteed. The Janus Clinic has an excellent reputation and we are so confident in this treatment that clients will be reimbursed in full if they fail to show improvement following treatment.
Who uses the Janus Clinic ?
Treatment at the Janus Clinic is available to adults who feel they would benefit from it.

If, as a result of stress in your life you are lacking confidence, find decision making difficult or feel that you are not performing well either at work or in your private life, the treatment offered at the Janus Clinic can benefit you.

If you have been affected by psychological trauma caused by accident, violence, rape, assault, bullying, etc, we can help your recovery and provide you with visible results and feedback. This treatment does not require you to talk about the trauma you have experienced, as this can be distressing in itself, but it will teach you how to alleviate the resulting symptoms of the experience and give you the skills to regain control of your life.
What are the symptoms of stress ?
Stress is the consequence of the failure to adapt to change. It is experienced as patterns of psychological and physical symptoms such as irritability, difficulty in concentration and decision making, anger, loss of sense of humour, burn out, inability to complete one task before starting another, feeling as being under pressure and targeted by others, inability to cope, lack of interest in what one is doing, feeling tired all the time, lack of appetite or constant craving for food, heartburn, digestion problems (constipation or diarrhoea), sweating without good reason, nervous twitching, nail biting, headaches/migraine, fainting spells, eczema, loss of sex drive, breathlessness, etc.
What problems can Janus Clinic deal with ?
We can help with a variety of problems such as stress, burn-out, improving and maintaining high performance, mental and cardiovascular health, fear, post traumatic stress disorder, combat stress, nightmares, flashbacks, sleeping problems, irritability, anger, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, attention disorder, concentration problems, addiction (alcohol and/or drugs) pain, migraine, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, fatigue, tension, mind-body balance, self-esteem, self-confidence, maintaining well-being and mental fitness, decision making and mental focusing.
What is PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder) ?
PTSD is a condition or disorder that usually happens following a traumatic event including experiencing, witnessing or confronting actual or threatening death, or injury, or a threat to the physical integrity of oneself or others, with an immediate reaction of intense fear, helplessness, or horror. A person with PTSD persistently re-experiences the traumatic event, avoids the stimuli associated with the trauma, with numbing of general responsiveness and increasing arousal. Re-experiencing the trauma usually includes recurrent intrusive and distressing recollections of the event including flashbacks and nightmares, distressing dreams, intensive psychological distress or physiological reactivity if exposed to internal or external cues that symbolise or resemble some parts of the traumatic event. A traumatised person with PTSD tries to avoid thoughts and/or feelings associated with the event or anything associated with it and may have amnesia (loss of memory) for an important aspect of trauma (event). The person may lose interest in social life or significant activities, feel detached/estranged from others. One may have difficulty falling or staying asleep, be irritable or even have outbursts of anger, have exaggerated startle response and experience problems concentrating. PTSD may impair one's biological, psychological and social aspects of life.
What is biofeedback ?
Biofeedback is a widely used method for teaching voluntary control of various physiological functions by providing instantaneous information about variations in physiological activity such as blood pressure, heart rate variability, brain waves, temperature, muscle tension, etc). This method is so efficient and powerful that it was widely used in training cosmonauts and astronauts. It is used in non-invasive treatments of various psychological and physiological problems. The method is very efficient and can be learned in very little time, which is the main advantage over the main stream methods (psychotherapy, counselling, etc)
What about confidentiality ?
Your confidentiality will be protected at all times. However, there are a few situations where, if they occur, there is a legal obligation to breach confidentiality. We will have to breach confidentiality if one discloses being homicidal, or suicidal, of being linked with any terrorism act or intention, or being a child molester, etc. Apart from that, your privacy, data and integrity will be protected and kept confidential. Our company is registered with and complies with the norms of The Data Protection Act.
Will I need a referral ?
You can refer yourself to our services at any time and you donít need an official referral if you intend to pay for the treatment yourself. We also accept GP and Consultant referrals. If you are applying for your treatment to be covered by medical insurance this organisation will send a referral together with the payment. Payment is required prior to the commencement of treatment.
Is psychology covered by private health insurers ?
We are registered as a provider with BUPA, AXA/PPP, CIGNA, Aviva, PruHealth and WPA.
What is the cost ?
Treatments may take up to 40 sessions, depending on the problem. You may choose the length of the session (from one to four hours per session).
How will I know if the therapy has worked ?
Our treatment will help you to regain your composure in little time, you will feel the change in your physiological functioning (e.g. heart rate, breathing, etc). Your mind will "follow" these changes and you will feel calmer and more focused. Also, your brain processing power (hence your performance) will increase due to decreased worrying (the part of your mind occupied by worrying thoughts and feelings will be available for doing something more useful). Finally, our modern computerised technology enables you to see in "real time" the immediate improvement you will achieve with our treatment.
